Collection: Our Story

It all began in 2012 when our neighbourhood faced a shortage of bees and other pollinators. Sam, passionate about his garden, took to hand-pollinating to keep his plants thriving.

Then we got a beehive, and everything changed. Our garden and those of our neighbours flourished with bumper crops of fruit. People marvelled at how the bees brought their gardens back to life.

We've grown to adore our bees. These little workers are endlessly fascinating, and our appreciation for them has only deepened. We wanted to help others connect with the natural goodness that bees provide.

Grafter's now covers the windy hills of Wellington, Hutt Valley, and the Kapiti Coast. Producing delicious native honeys & premium Mānuka honey of various strengths.

We take pride in our sustainable beekeeping practices. Our small bee farm is committed to the health and well-being of our honey bees. We use organic methods, avoid harmful chemicals, and ensure our bees have access to diverse and nutritious forage. By maintaining small hives, we can closely monitor and support each hive, ensuring the bees thrive and the environment remains balanced.

All our honey is independently tested and meets Export Grade standards.

One of the highlights of our production is our raw honey. We believe in keeping our honey as natural as possible, which means it’s not pasteurised or processed. This preserves the natural enzymes, antioxidants, and nutrients, offering you a rich, flavourful, and healthful product straight from the hive. Raw honey provides not only a delightful taste experience but also numerous health benefits, making it a true gift from nature.

All the care and dedication we put into our beekeeping result in a unique honey flavour that’s truly special. The diverse flora of our region, combined with our meticulous practices, creates a distinct and unforgettable taste that reflects the beauty and richness of our environment.

Our top priority is the health and happiness of the honey bee. We all know how hard bees work—just like our chief bee wrangler, Sam, who is always dedicated to the cause.
